Bridge of Lions
The Bridge of Lions is technically how you get across the Matanzas River between downtown and Anastasia Island. Nobody who lives here thinks of it as just a bridge.
The marble lions, the drawbridge, the boats underneath and the view back toward the bayfront have made it part of the visual identity of St. Augustine. Cross it on foot at least once if the weather cooperates. Driving over gets you where you are going. Walking over lets you see where you are.
A guide-written story for this place is coming soon.
