Francis Field is St. Augustine's premier outdoor event venue - a wide open green space next to the downtown parking garage that transforms throughout the year into the setting for the city's biggest festivals, concerts, and community gatherings. If something significant is happening outdoors in St. Augustine, it is almost certainly happening at Francis Field. The field has been part of St. Augustine since the early 1930s, when it served as home to the St. Augustine Saints, an amateur baseball team co-owned by Frederick Francis - the athlete, tennis coach, and Henry Flagler family connection after whom the field was officially named in 1938. The Saints won the Northeast Florida Championship in 1933 and Francis Day was declared by the mayor that same year. During World War II the field was used for military training. The last baseball game was played here in 1952, and the field gradually transitioned into its current role as the city's primary event space. Today Francis Field hosts an extraordinary range of events year-round. The St. Augustine Celtic Music and Heritage Festival draws thousands each spring with Highland Games, international Celtic musicians on two stages, Irish and Scottish cuisine, and the world's oldest St. Patrick's Parade. The Sing Out Loud Music Festival has brought nationally touring acts including the Black Keys and Mumford & Sons to this field. The Lions Club Seafood Festival, the Latin American Music Festival, the Greek Festival, art shows, 5K races,
